Full-Time Occupational Therapist Wanted in Yonkers, NY for Geriatric Care

Walker Rehabilitation is a private practice of physical, occupational, and speech therapists that has been providing proactive, evidence-based rehabilitation to the older adult for the last 14 years. As we grew and expanded, we recognized that if we apply our philosophy of clinically excellent care to the SNF setting, we would change the way these services have been provided and raise the bar for what administrators and staff should expect from their rehabilitation partner.

Our clinicians utilize evidence-based objective tests and measures to initiate treatment before the fall or hospitalization has occurred; thus proactively addressing the needs of residents. This combined with therapeutic exercise, prescribed by the clinician, at the proper frequency and duration, results in outcomes that return our patients to their prior level of function and a safe return to their homes.

The Occupational Therapist professional in our SNF setting will be responsible for evaluating and treating sub-acute and long term care geriatric patient populations, including:

Utilizing evidence-based clinically excellent care focused on proper frequency and duration of services to maximize outcomes and encourage the appropriate length of stay for a safe discharge.

Participating in individualized strategic planning to address the needs of each community and their specific challenges, as well as be an integral part of comprehensive rehab servcies with a focus on interdisciplinary communication and goals.

The clinician will also be required to provide MDS expertise and staff education, routine chart audits, and participate in quarterly interdisciplinary therapy screenings to identify early ADL decline.

Furthermore, our PT, OT, SLP, PTA and COTAs collaborate on wellness and restorative programs to promote healthy aging and quality of life.

Job Requirements
Must have a valid Occupational Therapy license in New York
Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
Prefer at least one year experience, but qualified new graduates will be considered (for full or part time) - PRN requires at least 1 year of experience with an ability to work independently.
Current CPR license
Exceptional patient service skills and ability to demonstrate clinical excellence, compassion and integrity.
Prefer therapist with past experience working with geriatrics.
