Lead Underwriter, New Initiatives FundAnalyze project feasibility and conduct analysis of potential NIF borrower experience and financial strength; act as lead underwriter and lead origination processParticipate in the transaction approval and execution process, including assembling packages for credit risk management review, assembling the necessary credit approval documentation and participating in transaction callsLiaise with the operation areas of our Client to ensure that loans and investments are correctly booked and all appropriate external and internal closing requirements are metAssist with ongoing portfolio management duties including draw requests, modifications and extensions, and ensure disbursements and fundings are properly accounted forCoordinate and prepare annual credit reviews and ensure compliance with borrower reporting requirementsInterpret and analyze borrower and portfolio performance data on a routine basis, including evaluating social impact; prepare regular reporting to senior managementAssist with strategy development for the deployment of NIFAssist with Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) exam documentation, preparation and review processSupport the preparation of various internal and external reporting requests and other communications and marketing activities related to NIFHelp manage relationships with clients, prospects, and internal/external stakeholders and represent CDFG at conferences and eventsFacilitate knowledge transfer, cross-learning, and effective teamworkRegularly identify efficiency improvements in all operational aspects of NIF administrationParticipate in special projectsThe preferred candidate should possess:A Bachelors degree in finance, economics or a related discipline. Masters degree in public policy, planning, or business preferredTwo-to-four years experience in the lending or investment sector, preferably with financial institutions (or relevant/related fields) in lending or analytical positionsDemonstrated financial analysis skills, including the ability to analyze project financials, loan portfolios, audited financials, balance sheets, and business plans of nonprofit organizations; familiarity with complex financial instruments desirableWorking knowledge of the community development and social finance industry including understanding of small businesses, economic development, affordable housing, and real estateAn ease with learning new systems/applications and strong Microsoft Excel capabilityExceptional analytical, writing, presentation, and organization skills and an ability to communicate complex transactions in a straightforward mannerStrong verbal communications and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively as a member of a small and dynamic teamEffective time-management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload with minimal direct supervisionCandidate should be a self-starter with a demonstrated passion for working in the community development finance field and a commitment to our Client s vision and values
