Location: Denver, CORelo assistance availableThe Journey Research team is seeking a creative and passionate Data Scientist to explore and prototype new methodologies of providing business insight and journey analytics, ultimately leading to new product functionality. This individual will leverage understanding of mathematics and business processes to help clients discover and act upon analytic insight. Successful candidates will enjoy working in a dynamic, high-paced and innovative environment. We prefer candidates that have demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets. Responsibilities· Apply techniques from statistical analysis and modeling, business intelligence, data mining, graph theory and other practices to establish new analytic methodologies for journey data· Work with the academic and business community to develop new techniques and contribute to research in the area of business intelligence and analytics on large data sources· Share, visualize and document successful strategies, findings, use cases and code samples with various mixed audiences· Collaborate with software developers and product management to integrate new analytic approaches into functional applications and new product offerings· Develop proposals, based on available data and technology, to respond to client analytic goals and requirements· Create re-usable implementations of analytic methods using available technologies to both satisfy client expectations and to accelerate core product development RequirementsPossess several of the following skills/experiences:· Must show capability of suggesting new and creative formulas and algorithms to solve business problems, developing test scenarios to measure competing algorithms, discussing and proving the merits of one solution above others in specific applications· Proficient building and testing functional proof of concepts in languages such as R, Scala, SAS and – especially – Python· Experienced with common tools to query, shape and modify data in a myriad of formats and storage technologies/databases; such as HDFS, Hive, HBase, PostgreSQL, CSV, JSON· Experienced with business analysis, analytic requirements analysis, business presentation; especially in performance improvement or customer interfacing systems (web sites, telephony, etc.)· Familiar rocessing large datasets via large parallel / distributed algorithms in clustered environments; especially Spark, Hadoop Map/Reduce, Hive, Impala· Familiar with data visualization methods and tools, such as Tableau, Cognos, Tibco Spotfire, Oracle BI, ggplot2, D3JS, etc. Personal Attributes· Strong analytical thinker and problem solver· Works well with both internal and external teams, as both a leader and a contributor· Both a designer and a builder· Enjoys teaching less technical team members· Excellent verbal and written communication skills· Curious, creative, and accepting of new ideasSelf-motivated and a strong contributor as part of a team and as an individual
