Position is located in Omaha, NE and consultants must be able to spend some initial time onsite in Omaha, before working remotely. Nuance Speech Scientist needed for a 6+ month contract assignment. Must be proficient with tuning of grammars and recognition utterances.Responsibilities:As a Speech Scientist you will work on automated speech recognition and natural language processing applications, focused on the optimization of the system.Work across application development teams to ensure best possible recognition performance and user experience in systemsAnalyze, optimize, redesign/develop as needed, and test grammars and create grammars for dynamic contexts, including natural language understanding statistical language and semantic models.Analyze performance of applications by identifying hot-spots, assessing caller and user navigational success, along with recognition accuracy.Make recommendations related to call flow and prompting, optimize recognition performance by improving grammars, statistical semantic models, recognition parameters, dictionaries, and acoustic modelsDevelop tools and enhance algorithms that facilitate development of new systems and optimization of language processing and speech recognition componentsRequired Skills:Nuance v10 – MUST HAVESpeech recognition knowledge, understanding of speech recognition, text classification, or other machine learning algorithmsFamiliarity with IVR and ASR platforms and APIsExperience with pattern recognition, machine learning, linguistics, or signal processing knowledgeKnowledge of statistical data analysisExperience with XML, VoiceXMLPrevious work experience in human computer interaction, usability studies, or statisticsStrong programming skills in either Perl, Python, Java, C/C++, SQLExperience with statistical software such as R
