our client is looking for a SQL DBA in port washington, NY. This is a long term consulting position.

We are seeking an experienced and seasoned Senior SQL DBA with a passion for leadership. The Lead will be required to work as both an individual administrator and lead a group of database professionals and business intelligence developers in BI/OLTP environment. This position requires leadership capabilities in the architecture, implementation and support of those databases in highly leveraged environment to ongoing development. Strong SQL administration and performance tuning skills to support the mission critical databases is very critical in this role. S/He must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of SQL Database administration tasks including installation, configuration, backup, and recovery processes. This is a Full Time Opportunity.
Purpose and Key Responsibilities of the position:
Provide technical leadership, supervise, delegate work to a team of Database Professionals and Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence Developers, mentor technical group and oversee database management for zero-downtime systems
Oversee development of several Business Intelligence initiatives which include building real-time multi-dimensional cubes and SSRS reports utilizing Oracle to SQL log mining software and SSIS.
Participate in evaluating requirements, working with BI team and product managers to provide solutions to end users
Guide the Business Intelligence team to develop a BI Platform that conforms to consistent methodologies, standards and industry best practices
Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain SQL databases and optimize system performance using index tuning, disk optimization, and other methods
Capacity planning, system design, planning and implementation, hardware, OS, network and application level troubleshooting, domain administration, scripting, system and network-level performance monitoring/tuning
Conduct monitoring, performance tuning, capacity analysis, upgrades, installations, backup verifications and recoveries
Administers, maintains and supports 24x7 production environments along with multiple QA and development infrastructure database related to OLTP / Internet Services.
Administers, maintains, and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the Availability, security and integrity of all company databases.
Regular communication to the management concerning a project’s status, potential risks, concerns, problems, and needs.
Knowledge and Experience Required:Minimum 7 years of database development and administration under Microsoft SQL Server (2005/2008)
Significant implementation experience with MS SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
Experience in development with MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
Hands-on or equivalent experience performing dimensional modeling with SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
Experience with upgrades, troubleshooting, security issues and replication required
Must have a solid background in Database Optimization and SQL Server Clustering Technologies
Demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of database administration: modeling, integrity, indexing, development, administration, disaster recovery, security, and data transformation
Hands on experience with Physical and Logical Database design, creating/upgrading database software, performance and application tuning, database security, space management, backup and recovery procedures, database design best practices, and other database maintenance procedures including standards and documentation
Capacity planning and developing strategic solutions for business problems including working with engineering team to help with testing of new features and versions
Manage all aspects of database security including processes for implementation and remediation
Demonstrate sharp troubleshooting and strong problem solving skills in OLTP and E-commerce / Internet services
