Great Performances, New York's premier catering, event, and food service company is looking for a dynamic, hands-on Venue Manager with demonstrated hospitality and managerial experience. One of our venues, an internationally, recognized, cultural center, located on the upper East side of Manhattan, is looking for someone to join our management team and grow within the company. We are looking for someone with the proven ability to oversee the operations and management of the venue efficiently and profitably. A passion for hospitality and the food industry is a must.The ideal candidate has the ability to successfully coach, develop and discipline staff to ensure the guest experience meets the hospitality standards of the company. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with a hands-on approach to ensure the successful operations of our café and restaurant.RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:Employee Management1) Selection, development and performance management of employees2) Participate in on-going education for team members, including, creating training programs3) Directing/assisting staff in nightly service and duties4) On-Going evaluation and mentoring of current and new employees5) Monitoring staff break periods during service6) Managing staff throughout their shifts and providing them with constructive feedback suggestions and solutions7) Creating and Managing employee schedule8) Ensuring adequate floor coverage for all services9) Managing all vacations, schedules, and switch requests10) Mediating employee concerns and issuesOperation Management11) Coordinate and manage the entire operation of the venue during scheduled service, including flow of service, and implementing creative solutions as needed12) Resolving guest issues and concerns with a professional demeanor13) Enforcing service standards as described in the Hospitality/Great Performances Employee Guides14) Maintain an open, professional communication with back of house staff and partner with culinary management on menu itemsVenue Promotions15) Assist Venue Director with promotional activities, and operational changes16) Manage logistics for group sales, buyouts, and special events17) Oversee printing of all menus, including group sale/beverage/food menus18) Assist with rental orders and special event ordering19) Accommodating special requests as per Venue DirectorSUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY*Directly responsible for the management of 5-8 employees per shift.EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED*Minimum 2-3 years hospitality management experience.*Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.*Combination of practical experience and education*Knowledge of computers to fulfill management functions, including word and excel*Proficiency in food preparation following the Department of Health guidelines and standards*Employee management*Self-disciplined and initiative; leadership ability; pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance;* Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that food andservice meet hospitality standards.*Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a widerange of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to common restaurant and café problems.* Must possess excellent communication and written skills*Food Handler's Certificate is a plusGreat performances offers a comprehensive benefits plan and competitive compensation.You must be able to provide valid documentation that you can legally work in the United States.Please provide cover letter with preferred salary and note in the subject line "Venue Manager"
