This is a great deal!
The price is firm. Desk has been appraised at $2500.
It is in exceptionally good condition.
A superb piece of furniture made of mahogany wood in a classic walnut finish, circa 1940's. it is in excellent condition. At its tallest height, the secretary is 83". It is constructed as two pieces and comes apart for transport. The top part is 36" wide and 9" deep. It is a curio with glass doors and wood design in a geometric pattern. The top decoration is woodworking at its finest in a neoclassical Federalist style. The bottom at it's widest is 36" wide and 20" deep. When open, the writing surface rests on supports that automatically come out and retreat. The writing nook has seven small drawers with brass knobs. There are two secret compartments and a miniature door compartment. The bottom part holds four large drawers and has beautiful brass-work handles. The drawers are crafted with a soft curve. This work of art has that touch of old world craftsmanship. This is a perfect item for the discerning buyer who wants to introduce elegance and character to a worthy room.
As a bonus, I will include a chair that complements this furniture. The chair will need refinishing. The seat fabric is worn and would need to be replaced. It is a fine chair worth the work.
