To make this happen, we are adding to our strong team of talented professionals to deepen and broaden our impact. Summary of PositionLifeguards ensure that all members participating in swimming activities enjoy a safe and harm-free experience by setting and implementing rules and supervising the swimming grounds. Major Duties and Responsibilities· Supervises members and staff at all times when in the pool area.· Identify and address any potential hazards and minimize or eliminate unsafe situations.· Assists in the regular maintenance of swimming pool areas, ensuring their sound and safe operation.· Enforce pool policies and procedures.· Insures that all necessary Incident Reports and other written reports are completed on a daily basis.· Lock and secure pool at closing· Participate in aquatic quarterly drills Education and/or ExperienceCollege credits and at least 2 years’ youth program experience as a pool lifeguard, instructor or comparable experience; Demonstrated leadership ability in an educational, social service and/or youth development settings; Familiarity with principles of supervision, organization, and maintenance; Current Lifeguard Certification from the American Red Cross is a must; First Aid and CPR Certification. Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesOral Communication, Organizational Support, Safety and Security, Adaptability, DependabilityTo applyApply online at http://www.bcny.org/about-bcny/careers.
