Pit Bull Terrier - Raymond: Adopt, Foster Or Sponsor Me!
There's a funny TV show called "Everybody Loves Raymond" but that's definitely not the reality series my life has been.
Here's my story:
I spent my tender years in the shelter which took it's toll on my well-being. It was decided I needed a break, so I came to stay with a wonderful trainer who taught me many things about living in a home environment and remarked what a great dog I was! But sadly, this could only be a temporary situation and I am now living in a kennel. Although I am fed and cared for there, I am forgetting some of the things I learned in a home. I know with love, patience, daily exercise and a refresher course of training, I can be the dog I once was! I am smart, learn fast and so eager to please. I know all my commands and even give paw! I am one of the most loving & mushiest dogs the volunteers have ever met and want nothing more than to melt like butter in their arms. As a matter of fact, the secret to calming my nerves is to receive an encouraging hug! Sometimes the excitement of seeing another dog on my walk or getting stared-down from a menacing squirrel (those squirrels really have it in for me!) is too much for me to handle. If we stop, take a break and give me some TLC, I can take a deep breath and continue on my path when I am ready. I will need an experienced person or foster home willing to help me pick-up on where my last one left off. LAPH is willing to guide you through the process and will be there every step of the way. Raymond is looking for a foster or forever home to call his own. He has been living in a boarding facility since June and is eager to get out. If there was one single word to describe Ray, it would be SMART! When it comes to learning new things, this guy's 'da bomb! Raymond picks up commands in a matter of minutes. He is that eager to please and get it right so he can get praise, petting or treats. Quite the athletic guy, he'd excel in agility, if his new owner was so inclined. Very affectionate, it saddens us to see that he is spending his tender years growing up in a shelter kennel. Raymond is very affectionate and yearns to just be by your side. Our hope is a bright, caring individual will save our dear Raymond before he loses his lust for life. Would that be you?
Raymond is a young pit mix who was found wandering the streets. He is just about a year and a half and is all puppy. This young boy deserves to be running around in a yard playing fetch, not sitting in a cement cell in the back of the shelter. Raymond is a high energy dog, who is very smart and willing to learn. He is eager to please and learns fast, he just needs a patient teacher to make him the perfect puppy he can be. Raymond already knows sit and paw, he's learning down and stay. He walks well on a leash and would make a perfect jogging partner. He loves other dogs, although he can come on a bit strong at first. For this reason, we also recommend Raymond be placed with older children who will be able to participate in his obedience training.
