  • Silver ring weighs 6 grams, size 8. Inscribed on one half of inner band is the legend: "GEORGIVS VI D.G. BR: OMN: REX F.D. IND: IMP:", which means "George VI by the Grace of God, King of Britain, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India".

Inscribed on other half of inner band: "Australia FLO [celtic cross] RIN [star]." There is considerable scroll work on this half of the inner band.

During or after WWII, silver florins were sometimes made into rings. Note that the florin part of a 1942 Australian coin is surrounded by stars and has the cross from the crown in the middle of it, exactly as depicted on the inner band of this ring. See bottom photo of 1942 Florin.

From the estate of a man whose father served in World War II.
